Sir John Thompson: Featuring Pre-Advanced Placement

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the Sir John Thompson Catholic Junior High School Family.  Parents, students, and staff have traditionally experienced and enjoyed a close working relationship at S.J.T.  We believe this to be critical to the overall educational success of our students, your children.

Our Mission is:

"The Christ-centered community of Sir John Thompson Catholic School embodies the values of honesty, loyalty, fairness, dignity and respect, and personal and community growth.  We promote a safe, caring and collaborative learning environment that provides educational opportunities for successful life-long learning."

Our primary goal is to celebrate our Catholic identity and our vision of Catholic Education.  We expect this vision to permeate the life and learning of all our students.  Further, we expect, on a yearly basis, to maintain or surpass the standard of excellence our students consistently achieve in all our programs.  As an aside, our grade 9 students have ranked in the top 5 of all Edmonton Catholic Junior High Schools in Provincial Achievement Exam results in all core subjects over the past 5 years.

Our student Satisfaction Survey results indicate that our students find the environment of S.J.T. to be one which is inspiring, safe and caring, where students are respected and valued, and where student learning is paramount.

One should not assume that academics are the only focus at S.J.T.  Our school has an excellent reputation in athletics as well.  Our senior boy's and girl's teams have many City Championships to their credit.  Further, we believe in a holistic education for our students where the psychological, emotional, and spiritual  components of their adolescence are developed as well.

We look forward to working with you in helping your child achieve their highest potential.

God Bless,

Mr. D. Andrews       Mrs. S. Rozycki
